$15

All AzSCE Bridge Technical Committee Members

General Meeting Main Presentation:

“DESIGN OF STRUCTURAL CONCRETE USING THE STRUT-AND-TIE METHOD”

With the updates to the Strut-and-Tie Method (STM) in AASHTO LRFD 8th Edition, there have been many questions regarding the use and understanding of STM. As a local expert on STM, Dr. Robin Tuchscherer will give some background on the STM and will answer a series of common questions and points of confusion. Some questions were submitted prior, but please send any additional questions you may have to Nathan Merrill, or be prepared to ask them at the presentation.

Presentation by Robin Tuchscherer, Ph.D., P.E., S.E. – Associate Professor at NAU

Dr. Robin Tuchscherer has been an Associate Professor at NAU since 2011. Prior to NAU, he practiced as a Structural Engineer in Austin Texas (3 years), Milwaukee, WI (5 years), and Englewood, CO (1 year on sabbatical) on a wide variety of bridge and building projects. He’s an active member of ACI Committee 445 (Shear and Torsion) and 445A (Strut and Tie Method). His research interests include the design, behavior, modeling and performance of large-scale concrete infrastructure. In his spare time, He, his wife, and four children (ages 11, 9, 6, and 6) enjoy everything northern Arizona has to offer!
