Environmental and Water Resources Institute

(EWRI)

The Environmental and Water Resources Institute (EWRI) was created on April 6, 1995 as a technical subcommittee of the Arizona Society of Civil Engineers (AzSCE).

Committee’s Mission:

“Provide an open forum for discussing technical water resource issues within Arizona.”

Objectives of the EWRI include:

  • Conducting technical education programs on water resource topics
  • Sponsoring activities that serve the need of water resource professionals
  • Furthering public understanding of the field of water resources, hydraulics, and environmental engineering

  • Review and comment on state and local legislation related to water resource issues

Meetings

The Arizona Chapter of EWRI meets the third Thursday of most months to hear presentations and discuss technical water resource issues, studies, and projects.

Currently, all presentations are virtual, but we are working towards having at least one in-person meeting throughout the year.

Membership

EWRI is a specialty organization within ASCE, and membership is included with your ASCE membership. EWRI attendance is open to both engineers and non-engineers, inviting a diverse group of environmental and water resource professionals. There are no dues required, and you do not have to be a member of ASCE to attend our meetings and events, or to present at our meetings.

However, membership in one of EWRI’s technical committees (https://www.asce.org/environmental-and-water-resources-engineering/technical-services/ ) requires membership in ASCE. To request an ASCE membership application, please contact the ASCE at (800) 548-2723 or online at www.asce.org.
